Women’s Lacrosse Dropped by RPI

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Capital University women's lacrosse team dropped their second consecutive game to a regionally and nationally recognized program, this time to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute via a 15-5 scoreline.

This result evens Capital's record at 2-2 and improves RPI to 2-0.

RPI plays in the Liberty League which houses some of the nation's highest ranked and recognized lacrosse programs on both the men's and women's sides.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Engineers held all the momentum across the early part of the game, establishing a 9-1 lead after just the first quarter. That head start was enough to control the remaining 45 minutes of action.

In the second quarter, RPI netted two more to carry an 11-1 lead into the break. Capital's lone first half goal came at the 10:57 mark of the first quarter off a woman-up goal from Luci Kanowsky

In the third quarter, the Comets got another goal back, just 10 seconds after the restart. Andi Henry won the opening draw, passed to Julia Foresi who then drove down the field and slung a pass to Dylan Smith who converted the goal.

Before the third was over, RPI tacked on three more goals to lead 14-2 heading to the final frame.

That final 15 minutes was better for the Comets as Andi Henry got the team back on the board. Later on, Grace Osborn then found the back of the cage twice to round out the scoring for Cap.

RPI scored a free position shot as time expired to close it out, 15-5.
