AURORA, Ill. – The Capital University women's lacrosse team traveled to the central time zone on Wednesday, taking on the Spartans of Aurora University. The Comets continued to shine as they picked up their fifth win to start out the season, remaining undefeated in the early going and holding Aurora at bay, 17-11.
The Purple and White came out swinging, breaking out to a 5-1 lead within the first fifteen minutes. Freshman phenom
Grace Osborn did not skip a beat in her debut season as she recorded two goals and one assist in just the first quarter. Cap continued to build their lead in the second, heading to the locker room with the scoreboard showing 8-2 in their favor.
In the second half, the Spartans began to wake up and put a little pressure on the Comets, scoring five goals in the third quarter. However, Cap came back harder with six, extending the lead by one more and having a clear advantage as the final fifteen minutes were added to the clock. The final quarter provided some entertainment as Aurora broke out with three straight goals, followed by another soon after the ensuing Capital goal. However, this was little cause for concern to the Purple and White as they responded with two more goals of their own to close it out. When it was all said and done, Capital put another notch in the win column, 17–11, and moved to 5-0 on the season. Aurora dropped to 1-2.
