COLUMBUS, Ohio – Not all wins are pretty, but at the end of the day, a win is a win – and that is just what the Capital University women's basketball team got tonight in the form of a 48-38 win over Olivet College.
In what is believed to be the first ever women's sporting event in Capital history to feature two teams both named the Comets, Capital utilized a 19-5 run in the fourth quarter to swing what had been a narrow game up to that point.
In the end, Capital got points from just their five starters and shot a meager 24.6% from the floor in the game. Despite this, a huge scoring difference was Cap's 16 made free throws to Olivet's two. At the end of the day, the Purple and White did enough to move past their final non-conference opponent of the season and move ahead to 8-2 on the year – a continuation to their best start to a season since 2015-16.
The main story for Capital was a 19-5 run in the fourth quarter to swing the game in their favor. Through that stretch, CU scored four baskets and converted nine free throws to put the game away. On the other end of the floor, Olivet was just 1-for-11 from the floor in the quarter.
