MASON, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team had its season come to an end on Friday, May 7, after being defeated in the semi-final round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament. The top-seeded Blue Streaks of John Carroll University took down fourth-seeded Capital, 5-0.
The Crusaders had to default two courts, putting them in a bind early. John Carroll took courts one and two on the doubles side after Amy and Kelli Wright-Lowell lost to Alyssa Krupp and Mia Zivkovic (8-0), followed by
Rachel Smith and Maggie Hass' loss to Megan Reese and Skye Harwood (8-2).
As singles play began the skies opened up and forced play to be halted. Both teams relocated from the Lindner Tennis Center to the Queen City Racquetball Courts in Cincinnati. The only singles match that was permitted to complete was court five singles where
Karen Kanke took a loss from Jaclyn Voss, 6-2, 6-3.
Three other matches were ongoing, all favoring John Carroll, but were halted once the fifth point was acquired by the Blue Streaks.
Capital ends its season with an overall record of 4-4 and earned its first posted win since before the 2007 season.
