BEXLEY, Ohio –  The Capital University men's tennis team hosted its first match of the year, welcoming rival Otterbein University to Wolfe Park on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders were unable to keep pace with the Cardinals following a 9-0 loss.

Graeme Green and Ven Naik put up the strongest fights at the top end of the Capital lineup. Together, they teamed up to take on Brandon Wall and Jamie Price in the top flight doubles match but were outlasted by the Cardinal duo, 8-5. Otterbein then swept through the remaining two doubles matches with 8-0 wins over the combinations of Josh Aude and Allan Huang, and Aaron Askew and Nathan Hatzler.

The story was similar when the match transitioned to singles play. Otterbein took all six matches despite valiant efforts from all areas on the lineup. Green and Wall squared off in the top billed match with Wall claiming a 6-3, 6-3 victory. Naik and Connor Radune went three sets to determine a winner. Naik rebounded from a 6-1 first-set loss with a 6-4 second-set win. In the decisive third set tie breaker, Radune claimed a 10-4 decision to earn the point.

Flights three through six all went to the Cardinals and all by clean sweeps, 6-0, 6-0.

Capital (0-2) will prepare for John Carroll University on Saturday, April 17. The Crusaders will host the Blue Streaks at Wolfe Park in Bexley with a 4:30 first service.
