GALENA, Ohio – On Sunday, March 28, Capital University and four additional OAC schools returned for a second pass-through at Royal American Links for another edition of the Purple and White Invitational. While Capital finished fifth overall, freshman
Ben Satterthwaite highlighted a rainy, cold and windy day with top medalist honors.
While the winds howled and rains passed through northeast Columbus, the Crusaders readied for another 18 holes at Royal American (par 72, 6859 yards). Conditions impacted play up and down the list of competitors, Capital's
Ben Satterthwaite came out ahead of the pack with a first-place finish behind a 3-over par, 75.
Satterthwaite edged out Ohio Northern's Josh Stryker, who ended the round one stroke off of the lead.
Andrew Simpson, who had finished second overall in Saturday's round, came into the clubhouse with an 82, while teammate
Shane Murphy carded an 80. Rounding out the list of Capital scorers was
Angelo Donato, who turned in a 92.
Capital also sent out
Vince Daher (79),
Adam Czerniakowski (86),
Jack Curtis (90),
Jack Shoemaker (87), and Thomas Douangsy (103) to compete as individuals. Â Daher tied for seventh overall with his 7-over par, 79.
Otterbein took the team title in Sunday's second 18-hole event, posting a 315 score to top the field. Ohio Northern (319) finished four shots off the Cardinals' heels with Marietta (321) and Muskingum (328) came in third and fourth, respectively.
Capital will prepare for a quick turnaround and return to the links at the second Muskingum Invitational, held at Zanesville Country Club on Monday, March 29.
