AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced its women's basketball postseason awards on Wednesday, March 10. The vote is in, and Emma Burns and Caroline Taphorn have been named to one of three OAC All-Conference teams.
 

EMMA BURNS

FIRST TEAM ALL-OAC
Junior guard Emma Burns was named First Team All-OAC following a year in which she led the Crusaders in scoring with 9.7 points per game and led the Ohio Athletic Conference in 3-point shooting. Through 11 games, Burns shot 55.9 percent (19-34) from behind the arc. In addition, averaged 4.4 rebounds per game and accumulated 17 assists and 11 steals.
Her top game of the season came with a pair of 15-point performances in Cap's series against Wilmington College on February 5-6.
 
CAROLINE TAPHORN

HONORABLE MENTION

Senior guard Caroline Taphorn had been tagged as one of the conference's most aggressive and dangerous defenders, and that showed in her being named to Honorable Mention All-OAC honors. On the boards, Taphorn collected 41 rebounds (3.7/g) and made 20 steals while adding three blocks. She also was a scoring threat that averaged 8.2 points per contest and shot 49.3 percent from the field.

Taphorn's best performance came against Marietta College on February 26 after dropping 20 points on the Pios on 7-of-8 shooting while dishing out a season-high six assists.
 
The awards are firsts for both Burns and Taphorn and add to a lengthy list of all-conference performers in Capital Women's Basketball history. The Crusaders have had at least two players named to an All-OAC team in each of four seasons and in all but one dating back to 2011. Capital finished its abbreviated season with an overall record of 5-6 and a trip to the OAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
