COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's basketball team played a tough game road game at Wilmington, falling to the Quakers 77-60 on Friday night.

THE FACTS
  • Scoring was hard to come by in the opening minutes of the contest as each team made just one shot apiece three minutes in, making the score 3-2 Wilmington.
  • Around the six minute mark, Capital began to find some shots and after an Emma Burns three point shot and two Maddie Dougoud jumpers, they built out to a six point lead.
  • The lead would sink to two but another Burns three ball pushed it back out to five with 3:10 to go in the first quarter.
  • Wilmington found their footing in the last minute and a half though, making three shots in a row to cut the difference to one as the second frame began.
  • At the 9:48 mark, the Quakers took the lead by one and took command of the game.
  • The Crusaders remained strong and continued to make shots but the Quakers also started to heat up and were able to keep their advantage for the remainder of the period and take a three point lead into half at 33-30.
  • The third period was much the same, Capital keeping it competitive and getting within six points with 1:05 left but that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the contest.
  • In the fourth quarter the Quakers took full control of the court and built an insurmountable lead that settled at 17 by the final horn to bring the result to 77-60.

KEY STATS
  • Junior Emma Burns paced the team with 15 points, tied a career-high seven rebounds and collected three assists.
  • Junior Brooke Ommert was the other Crusader to score double-digit points, tallying 11 points to go alongside four rebounds.
  • The team accumulated 15 assists and four different players each rejected one shot against the Quakers.
