COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University Track & Field hosted its annual Rick Meindl Last Call meet at The Capital Center on Sunday, February 21. Ohio Northern University and Wilmington College joined the Purple and White to compete, and the Crusaders, both men and women, finished third out of the bunch.

Sophomore Alexa Poling (Logan, Ohio/Logan Hocking) had a strong outing with a pair of second-place finishes in her respective throwing events. In her first event, the weight throw, Poling set a new personal record with her first toss of the day, which measured in at 13.99 meters (45-10 ¾). That mark also moved her up one spot on the Capital All-Time Top 10 list in that event. She now ranks sixth after surpassing Mary Court's 2014 performance (13.86m).
 
Poling came back in the shot put to take runner-up honors, measuring in a top throw of 10.69 meters (35-1).

Other top performances on the women's side include:

• Kaya Milby (60m), 9.06 *PR, 2nd
• Bella McCarty (PV), 2.50m (8-2 ½), 3rd
• Hanna Bauer (LJ), 4.39m (14-5) *PR, 3rd
• Makala Noble (SP), 9.43m (30-11 ¼) *PR, 4th

On the men's side, freshman Zion Park (Newark, Ohio) took top honors in the pole vault marking his second collegiate victory. In his fourth round of vaults, Park cleared 4.10 meters (13-5 ¼) on his first attempt, which also set a new PR.

Capital logged a second win on the day when sophomore Jonathan Brown (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) won the 200-meter dash smashing his previous best when he cut the tape in 23.69 seconds. His previous best was 24.03 seconds. Brown beat out ONU's Vini Sousa by 0.09 seconds.
 
Freshman Daniel Hiser (Canal Winchester, Ohio/Canal Winchester) set a new PR in the 60-meter dash behind a time of 7.23 seconds, which also landed him a second-place finish. He finished just 0.02 seconds behind race winner Jaymar Hines of Ohio Northern. That mark also elevate him from number 10 to number six on the Capital all-time list in the 60.

Other notable performances on the men's side include:

• Kelly Wilson (60m hurdle), 9.07, 2nd
• Daniel Hiser (LJ), 6.02m (19-9) *PR, 2nd
• Donovan Slattery (3,000m), 9:24.82 *PR, 5th
• Bryson Ashley (400m), 57.52 *PR, 4th

The Capital men logged 57 points to finish third while the women scored 40 to place the same.

Capital will host its last home meet of the season and the final meet prior to the OAC Championships, next weekend. The home meet will take place on Sunday, February 28 at The Capital Center where Wilmington, Muskingum and Marietta College will join the Crusaders. More information will be made available as the meet draws near.
