LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Capital University women's basketball team squared off against the No. 11 ranked Transylvania University Pioneers on Tuesday, but were defeated by a score of 38-78.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tough matchup to begin with but the Comets were able to hold their own in the first quarter with the score remaining even at nine points a piece with five minutes remaining. However, a strong Pioneer push to end the quarter left Transylvania with a sizable lead. The second quarter struggles returned for Capital and they were never quite able to get on their feet in terms of shooting. Despite a strong third quarter led by two three-pointers from freshman guard
Laney Murphy, the Comets were not able to chip away at the deficit in the second half and would wind up on the short end of the scoreboard.
