WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- On Monday afternoon,
Emma Burns was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her efforts leading Capital University women's basketball during the opening week of the season.
The award is the second of its kind for Emma who also claimed the recognition on December 16, 2019.
Burns helped lead the Comets to a 1-1 non-conference mark in their opening week, defeating Wooster by a final of 63-51, and falling to Illinois Wesleyan by a score of 75-67.
Across the two games, Burns averaged and even 23 points-per-game on an extremely efficient display of shooting. Her 23 ppg also leads the entire OAC conference to start the season.
Against Wooster, Burns scored a career-high 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting and against Illinois Wesleyan she netted 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting. During both games, she scored 61.5% of her attempts from beyond the arc. Rounding out a great display of shooting, Burns went a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
In addition to her scoring abilities to start the season, Emma has added four rebounds and five assists.
Burns will lead her team on the court next this coming Saturday at Calvin in Michigan. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
