COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's and women's track and field teams hosted three additional schools in its first home meet of the season, the Jessica Starks Invitational, on Sunday, January 31. Both squads placed fourth out of four teams, but each featured multiple top personal performances and podium placements.

• Alexa Poling had a strong showing in the ring for the Cap throwers. Poling took second in two events, first in the weight throw in which she topped out at 13.29 meters (43-7 ½). She returned later to take runner-up honors in the shot put after a top launch of 10.61 meters (34-9 ¾).
• Sophomore Bella McCarty matched pole vaulter Kenzie Murray from Heidelberg in clearing the 2.60-meter (8-6 ¼) mark in the pole vault, but finished second due to a tiebreaker based on number of passes needed to clear the height.
• In her first collegiate action, freshman Hanna Bauer placed fourth in the 200-meter dash behind a time of 30.17 seconds. She also took sixth in the long jump (4.28m, 14-0 ½).
• Eva Bernhardt finished less than eight seconds behind 1-mile run winner Kelsey Broering (Wilmington) after logging in a time of 6:29.16.
• Freshman Anya Vanasdale placed fifth in the 3,000-meter run (11:33.31), her first action on the track as a collegiate athlete.

Capital placed fourth out of four teams with 52 team points. Heidelberg University took the team win with 130 points with Wilmington College (102) and Muskingum University (98) taking second and third, respectively.
