COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's and women's track and field teams hosted three additional schools in its first home meet of the season, the Jessica Starks Invitational, on Sunday, January 31. Both squads placed fourth out of four teams, but each featured multiple top personal performances and podium placements.

• Freshman Daniel Hiser saw great success in the 60-meter dash. In his preliminary heat he not only qualified with a time of 7.30 seconds, but that performance was strong enough to crack the Capital top-10 indoor list. Hiser came back in the finals and finished third overall after stopping the clock at 7.34 seconds.
• Hiser also took sixth in the long jump after registering a best leap of 5.76 meters (18-10 ¾).
• In his first attempt at the pole vault this season, freshman Zion Park took first place overall in the event after successfully clearing 3.95 meters (12-11 ½).
• Sophomore Jonathan Brown finished runner-up in the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line in 24.20 seconds.
• Bryson Ashley set a new personal best in the 500-meter run (1:18.64), beating his previous by nearly 16 seconds.
• The 60-meter hurdles featured three Crusaders in the six-person race. Kelly Wilson was flying down the lane and was primed for the win but his approach to final hurdle prevented him from clearing it, leading to a disqualification. Andy Fullmer edged out a Muskingum runner for second place and Johnathan Brown took fourth.
• Andy Fullmer had a busy day in multiple areas. In addition to placing fourth in the 60 hurdles he also placed eighth in the 800 (2:19.44), fourth in the pole vault (3.05m, 10-0), and seventh in the long jump (5.72m, 18-9 ¼). His long jump mark is a new personal best.
• All-American Josh Miller did not compete in Sunday's meet after recording marks last week which placed him tops in the country in both the weight throw and shot put.

The men's team placed fourth overall, recording 56 points over the course of the day. Wilmington College took the team win, edging Heidelberg University by two points, 164-162. Muskingum finished third with 149 points.
