THE WAY IT WENT DOWN

  • The Crusaders had seven players hit the score sheet in its huge second quarter that propelled them to a big advantage. No CU player scored more than four points but collectively they outscored the Student Princes 23-3 in the quarter. Capital took a 38-19 advantage into the half.
  • Capital forced Heidelberg into seven turnovers in the second and also blocked three shots to aid in its defensive effort. Heidelberg shot just 1-for-10 (.100) and all three of its points came from Maddy Crawford, as did three of its five rebounds.
  • The Crusaders kept the flames hot in the third after shooting 10-for-15 (.667) from the field, led by Emma Burns' seven points. Six of those came from behind the arc.
  • Heidelberg shot 50 percent from the field but also converted on 7-of-8 free throws to fall behind just three more points at the end of the third. Down 62-40 heading into the fourth, Heidelberg picked up five points on Cap but was far too little to make any sort of comeback.
