ADA, Ohio – Capital University Women's Track & Field began its quest for Ohio Athletic Conference championships on Friday on the first day of the 2018 OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. After the first day, the Crusaders have on All-OAC member and a few more can earn that honor on Saturday.

Sophomore Taylor Manivanh (Grove City, Ohio/Central Crossing), Capital's national qualifier and an OAC champion during the indoor season, placed third in the long jump to earn her second All-OAC place of the year. Manivanh began the competition with leaps of 5.27 meters, 5.36 meters and 5.28 meters before fouling on her fourth and fifth attempts. On her sixth and final attempt, Manivanh set a new personal record with a jump of 5.43 meters, the third-best result in program history.

A pair of Crusaders will have the opportunity to compete for All-OAC honors in the 100-meters hurdles on Saturday, Emily Hilt (Delaware, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) and Niamani Mayes (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills). Hilt and Mayes finished fourth and fifth in the preliminaries with runs of 15.89 seconds and 16.13 seconds, respectively. Mayes placed third in the 60-meter hurdles at the indoor championships in February.

Senior sprinter Hunter Mouser (London, Ohio/London) also lives to race another day in the 200-meter dash by securing the final qualifying spot with an eighth-place time of 25.97 seconds. She also qualified for the 400-meter dash finals with a fourth-place run of 58.58 seconds

Following the completion of Friday's action, Capital is sitting in eighth with nine points. Ohio Northern University leads the team competition with 66 points.
