Cap Features Fitting End to Late Win Over Baldwin Wallace

Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team was in action Friday night as they played host to Baldwin Wallace University. It was only fitting that a senior scored the game-winner on Senior Night. Cheyn Roux scored his ninth goal of the year.

Senior Cheyn Roux (Davidson, N.C.) was the hero on Senior Night. On a ball that was being volleyed inside the Yellow Jacket box, freshman Tyler Wujczyk (Beverly Hills, Mich.) managed to flip the ball over the keeper's head. Roux was there waiting and chipped the ball into a wide open net for the goal.

At the 11-minute mark, junior Justin Niswonger (Centerville, Ohio) made a diving save to prevent Patrick O'Malley's header.

Niswonger made another save at the 35-minute mark. Logan Davis sent a ball into the Cap box in front of the goal. Danny Ruple took a shot from five yards out, but Niswonger made a brilliant diving stop to keep the ball out.

In the first half, Capital and the Yellow Jackets had very similar stat lines. They both took six shots and each keeper made two saves. The Crusaders had a slight lead in corner kicks, 3-1.

In the second half Cap held Baldwin Wallace to four shots. Capital took five shots in the second half. Corner kicks were flopped 3-1 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.

For the match, the Crusaders had nine players take shots. Senior Jacob Pulliam (Westerville, Ohio) and senior Alexander Basiakos (Hilliard, Ohio/ Hilliard Bradley) led the way for Cap with two shots each.

Roux picked up his ninth goal of the season and Wujczyk picked up his third assist on the year.

Niswonger improves to 12-2-2 on the season with his ninth shutout of the season.

This year's senior class produced a 41-29-12 overall record and 21-11-4 record in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Basiakos, Hunter Booth, Colton Phillips, Pulliam, Jacob Reventlow, and Roux all played their final regular season match at home tonight.

With the victory, the Crusaders improve to 13-3-2 overall and 5-4-2 in OAC play. Capital clinched the No. 3 seed in the OAC Tournament. The first match of the tournament for Cap is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 31, against the No. 6 seed. The match will be at Purmort Field at Bernlohr Stadium and the time will be announced at a later date.
