Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – Defense and shooting struggles for both sides defined Saturday's Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball game between Capital University and Baldwin Wallace University. In a very scrappy bout between the two at the Capital Center, the Yellow Jackets ended up pulling away in the final minutes to defeat the Crusaders, 47-39.
Capital (6-7 overall, 2-4 OAC) held a slim one-point lead with 2:24 to go in the game but it was erased by Baldwin Wallace's Alissa Munro's three-pointer to switch the lead in the guests' favor. After a pair of made free throws, Capital had two additional chances to close the gap. Those chances were exhausted with an off-target shot by Simonne Gage (Dayton, Ohio) and a second miss by Thompson following a BW turnover. Munro came up with two big blocks after the Yellow Jackets extended their lead to seven points, eliminating any chance of a late comeback for Capital.
Both teams had shooting struggles with neither eclipsing 26 percent from field goal range. A grand total of four three-pointers were made between the two with three of those going to BW. However, Baldwin Wallace (10-3, 5-1) fared better at the charity stripe, hitting 75 percent (12-16) of their shots while Capital went 10-for-18 (.556) from the line.
Each team's defense was featured with a total of 33 turnovers having been induced. Capital committed 18 of those while Baldwin Wallace accounted for the remaining 15.
