HIRAM, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team shutout St. John Fisher College, 2-0, on day two of the Hiram Tournament hosted by Hiram College.

Senior midfielder R.G. Florey (Westerville, Ohio) inked the scoreboard for the game's first score less than five minutes into the match, giving Capital an early 1-0 advantage.

Florey's goal proved to be the lone score of the opening half of play, as Capital took a one goal lead into halftime.

At the break, both teams were tied with four shots apiece, while the Crusaders held a 2-0 advantage in shots on goal.

As the second half of play unfolded, neither team managed to manufacture a scoring opportunity until the 72^nd minute when Capital increased its lead to 2-0.

Sophomore forward Cheyn Roux (Davidson, N.C.) tallied the Crusaders' second goal of the game off his own rebound from a previous shot off the post.

Solid defense for the remainder of the game led to the Crusaders maintaining their two goal advantage over the Cardinals, leading to Capital's first victory of the season.

Leading the way for the Crusaders was Florey and Roux, each scoring their first goal of the season for Capital.

Freshman goalkeeper Trevor Funk (Dublin, Ohio) earned the first victory in goal of his career as a Crusader, starting the match and playing 45 minutes in the net.

In total, Capital outshot St. John Fisher 14-7, while also holding a distinct advantage in corner kicks at 9-6.

With the win, Capital (1-2 overall) is now set to return home on Sept. 12 for a 3:30 p.m. matchup against Waynesburg (Pa.).
