COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's basketball team used a dominating first half performance to defeat The College of Wooster Fighting Scots, 70-49 on Monday. Capital is now 5-4 and will compete in the championship game of the Marriott-Columbus Airport Holiday Tournament tomorrow at 5 p.m.

Jenna Erwin (Springfield, Ohio) got things started early with six of the team's nine points, two rebounds and a steal in the first few minutes of play.

The Crusaders used a 10-2 run in the final minutes of the first half to take a 44-23 lead into halftime. Capital was able to hit six of its 10 free throws during the span of that run.

Turnovers also hurt the Fighting Scots as they turned the ball over seven times in the final seven minutes, resulting in just two points during that time.

Capital held a 20-2 advantage in steals. Nina Napolitano (Akron, Ohio) led the effort with four steals while Erwin, Courtney Merritt (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Annika Wachtman (Upper Arlington, Ohio) each had three apiece.  Napolitano was one of two Crusaders to score in double digits, finishing with 10 points while hitting five of her eight field goal attempts.

Leading the scoring effort was freshman post player Chelsea Pla (Macedonia, Ohio) and her 12 points. She went 4-for-9 from the field and added three rebounds in just her second collegiate start. She has now scored 10 or more points in three of her last four games.

Capital plays Grove City College tomorrow evening in the championship game of the two-day tournament. The Wolverines pulled of a comeback victory against Centre College prior to Capital's game, 54-52. Tipoff is set at 5 p.m.
