The Capital University women's basketball team received contributions across the board Saturday in a 70-55 victory over Baldwin Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest at Berea, Ohio.

The Crusaders (12-5 overall, 7-3 OAC) put together two strong halves and shot 54.8 percent in the second to pull away from the Yellow Jackets. Capital shot 49.2 percent from the floor while holding Baldwin Wallace to 35.1 percent shooting.

"We played the best basketball we've played in almost a month," Capital coach Dixie Jeffers said. "It was a complete team win. We played great defense and had good support off the bench."

Coming off a career-high 29 points on Wednesday at Muskingum, senior forward Stacy Timmerman (New Bremen, Ohio) tallied 15 of her game-high 20 points in the second half while finishing with eight rebounds. Junior guard Cookie Geroski (Fostoria, Ohio) recorded 15 points, and freshman guard Simonne Gage (Dayton, Ohio) posted 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting.

"Stacy and Cookie again came through with great play, and Simonne Gage had a great second half making decisions as our point guard," Jeffers said. "It was a solid effort by our starting five and off the bench. It was a great road win."

The Yellow Jackets (10-7, 5-5) led by seven midway through the first half before the Crusaders rebounded to take their first lead of the game with just over five minutes left in the period. The two teams went back and forth for the remainder of the half, and a Geroski jumper with 25 seconds left gave Capital a 32-31 advantage at the break.

The two teams traded baskets to start the second before the Crusaders extended their lead to 43-37 with just under 13 minutes to play in the contest. Capital took its first double-digit lead at the 3:20 mark and led by as many as 17.

Senior Rebekah Will (Millbury, Ohio) added six points, eight rebounds and four assists. Freshman forward Kristen Thompson (Cincinnati, Ohio) registered six points and six rebounds, while sophomore forward Monica Heckman (Pitsburg, Ohio) contributed with five boards.

The Crusaders continue their road stretch Wednesday at Heidelberg. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Tiffin, Ohio.
