The Capital University men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to five matches Saturday after playing to a 0-0 tie in two overtimes at Otterbein in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest at Westerville, Ohio.
The Crusaders (9-5-4 overall, 4-3-2 OAC) clinched the No. 5 seed in the OAC Tournament and will play at Heidelberg, the fourth seed, in the tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday in Tiffin, Ohio.
The Cardinals (6-8-3, 2-4-3) finished with a 22-13 advantage in shots, including a 16-6 margin after the first half, and had seven corner kicks compared to five for Capital.
Junior goalkeeper Bob Weisgarber (Columbus, Ohio; pictured above) made six saves for his first shutout of the year and the team's sixth. Senior Al Argyris (Centerville, Ohio) led the Crusaders with five shots, including three on goal, while juniors Nick Eley (Pickerington, Ohio) and Tony Macioce (Pickerington, Ohio) added one shot apiece.
Tuesday's game time at Heidelberg is to be determined. Earlier this season, Capital traveled to Tiffin and was defeated 1-0 by the Student Princes.
