ADA, Ohio – After a successful run through the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and conference tournament, Capital University Women's Soccer's season is likely over after a 2-0 loss to Ohio Northern University in the OAC Tournament Championship.

The Polar Bears got off to a hot start with a shot by Jenna Fuller only 38 seconds in and in the fifth minute, Fuller scored the opening goal of the match off a cross by Rose Nienaber. ONU took 13 shots in the first half to Capital's five and the Crusader defense was strong to only allow the one score.

Capital's offense came to life in the second half with seven shots and the Crusader defense only had to face three from the Polar Bears in the last 45 minutes. However, one of those shots found the back of the net. In the 70th minute, ONU received a free kick from about 30 yards out. Sarah Puntel took the kick and Siena Ward was able to get her head on it and send it into the goal.

Capital then sent off a flurry of five shots in the next few minutes, including two from Sydney Dion. After the 75th minute though, the Crusaders weren't able to get off another shot. Dion, Jayde Hoffmann (Liberty Township, Ohio/Lakota East) and Bridget Mallin (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) each finished with two shots to lead the Crusaders.

Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Bachmann (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville Community) made four saves in the match.

Barring an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, Capital finishes its season at 10-8-1 with a 7-2-0 OAC record.
