Bushee Named OAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference named its Women's Soccer Player of the Week on Monday. Earning her first such honor of her career was freshman Mary Bushee, who helped Capital on both the offensive and defensive front to advance to the conference tournament.

The San Marcos, Calif. native scored three goals to help the Crusaders to a 2-1-0 mark over the last week of play. Bushee scored twice in the team's 5-1 win over Heidelberg University, including the game-winning tally. She struck again with a crucial game-tying goal in the 82nd minute against Baldwin Wallace, forcing overtime and eventually leading to another Crusaders victory.

"I am really happy for Mary [Bushee] because she came in this year with a terrific attitude and work rate," said head coach Chris Kouns. "No matter where we've asked her to play she has been successful. She is a tremendous example of the type of student-athlete of the future in our program."

With three goals, Bushee now has five to accompany two assists in her freshman season. While listed as a defender, she has also lined up to play in the middle or middle back to serve both as an offensive threat or another line of defense for Capital. In the regular season, she has been a part of a defense that has surrendered 18 goals and pitched seven shutouts in 19 matches.

The third-seeded Crusaders (13-5-1 overall, 6-2-1 OAC) now begin its quest for its third OAC Tournament Championship in four years. That trek will begin at home on Tuesday afternoon when they host No. 6 John Carroll University (10-4-4, 4-2-3) at 2 p.m. from Bernlohr Stadium.
