Men's Soccer Defeated at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Capital University's men's soccer team fell, 3-1, on the road at Mount Union on Saturday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders got on the board early in the game following an unassisted goal in the 9th minute of play.

Following their initial goal, the Purple Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute following a goal that was assisted, doubling up their lead on the Crusaders.

Heading into halftime, Mount Union trumped Capital five to three in total shots, with the Purple Raiders leading 2-0 after the opening frame.

As the second half unfolded, the Crusaders narrowed the deficit to just a one goal lead for the Purple Raiders, as junior Austin Dent scored Capital's first goal of the match in the 59th minute, making the score 2-1.

However, the Purple Raiders responded in the 69th minute, retaking their two goal advantage on the Crusaders.

Down the stretch, Capital looked to mount a comeback, but to no avail, eventually falling by a final score of 3-1.

Leading the way for the Crusaders was Dent, scoring his first goal of the season, while also recording two of his three shots on goal.

With the loss, Capital (5-6-3, 2-3-0 OAC) heads back home after concluding a brief two game road trip, as the Crusaders play host to Marietta on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m.
