Capital Women’s Cross Country Predicted to Place Eighth in OAC Poll

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its annual preseason cross country coaches poll on Wednesday and the Capital University women have been picked to finish eighth. The Crusaders earned 27 total points.

Otterbein University garnered 80 points in first place and picked up eight of the 10 first-place votes. Baldwin Wallace University came in second with 64 points and one first-place vote. The University of Mount Union placed third with 62 points and John Carroll earned the remaining first-place vote and 60 total points in fourth. Ohio Northern University rounded out the top five with 58 points.

Muskingum University and Heidelberg University placed ahead of the Crusaders in sixth and seventh place, respectively, with 37 points and 35 points. Wilmington College followed Capital with 17 points in ninth and Marietta College's 10 points rounded out the list.

Seniors Larkin Joseph and Mackenzie Meyers will lead Capital in 2018 and Emily Hilt, the lone junior on the team, will be relied upon for results as well. Alaina Miller returns for her second season as one of the three sophomores on the team and the rest of the squad is made up of six freshmen.

Capital's season will begin on Friday, Aug. 31 at the Battle for Columbus meet hosted by Otterbein.
