Westhoven Leads Capital Pack at Regional Championships

POWELL, Ohio – Capital University Women's Cross Country braved the chilly November air at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio as Ohio Wesleyan University hosted this year's NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship. Hannah Westhoven emerged as Capital's top performer and finished inside the top 40 as the Crusaders placed 26th out of 35 teams in the 6,000-meter race.

Senior Hannah Westhoven (Napolean, Ohio/Napolean) was the first Capital harrier to cross the finish line, doing so in 23:30.1 and rounding out the top 40 performers in Saturday's race. She edged out her previous personal record by one second.

Junior MacKenzie Meyers (Ashville, Ohio/Teays Valley) followed closely behind and finished in 54th place behind a time of 23:44.8.

Rachel Rus (26:27.3) ended the race in 181st place while junior Larkin Joseph (26:58.7) finished behind her in 192nd. Freshman Alaina Miller (Baltimore, Ohio/Liberty Union Thurston) wrapped up Capital's competitors with a 28:33.2 finish time, placing her 224th overall.

Capital finished 26th out of 35 teams, while Hope College took home the team championship and Otterbein University served as the top Ohio Athletic Conference school.
