Women's Cross Country Places Two in Top Five

Westerville, Ohio - Capital Women's Cross Country started their season with promising results from its returning runners in the Battle of Columbus Meet at Otterbein University on Friday, including two finished in the top five.

Mackenzie Meyers (Ashville, Ohio/Teays Valley) paced all Cap runners with a finish of 19:25.2, good enough for fourth place overall. Hannah Westhoven (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) finished right next to Meyers in fifth with a time of 19:25.4.

As a team, Capital placed third out of four teams. Otterbein White and Otterbein Red finished first and second and Ohio Dominican University finished fourth.

Rachel Rus finished third for Capital with a run of 21:14.0 and junior Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) finished the course in 21:35.4 for fourth on the Capital team.

Alaina Miller, Allie Rus and Emily Hilt (Delaware, Ohio/Delaware) finished fifth, sixth and seventh for Capital with respective times of 22:45.1, 23:19. 9 and 25:24.7.

The Cap runners will have their next opportunity to compete on Sept. 16 at the Allegheny Cross Country Classic at Allegheny College.
