OAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll Predicts Crusaders Cross Country to Finish Seventh

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its 2017 women's cross country preseason coaches' poll on Tuesday with Capital University picked to finish seventh out of 10 teams (32 points).

The Crusaders come in 48 points behind first-place Otterbein University. The Cardinals received eight first-place votes. Picked second and third are John Carroll University and Ohio Northern University with 71 and 64 points, respectively. Each of those two schools picked up a first-place vote.

Mount Union University (59), Baldwin Wallace University (47) and Heidelberg University (45) make up the next three in front of Cap with Muskingum University (25), Marietta University (14) and Wilmington College (13) predicted to fall behind the Crusaders.

Seven upperclassmen return for Capital this fall, including senior Hannah Westhoven (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon). She and the rest of the returners will be joined by four new runners this season.

The Purple and White begin their season in Westerville, Ohio at the Otterbein Dual on Friday, Sept. 1.
