Women’s Cross Country Close Out Season at Great Lakes Regional

HOLLAND, Mich. –  On Saturday morning, Capital University Women`s Cross Country competed at the 2016 Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championships, hosted by Hope College. Capital showed their growth this season coming in front of eight teams and placing higher than the last two previous season, coming in 23rd place out of 31 teams. 

Sophomore Mackenzie Meyers (Ashville, Ohio) has made great strides this season and showed her dominance on the team leading the Capital pack this year in a time of 24:02.8. She came in 90th place overall in a field of 232.

Junior Hannah Westhoven (Napolean, Ohio) was the next harrier of the group crossing the line at 24:19.2, earning a 103rd place finish. 

Senior Sarah Rini (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) wasn't too far behind, crossing the finish line for one last time in 24:50.5.

Senior pair Al Corrigan (Burton, Ohio) and Gretchen Sauder (Mansfield, Ohio) wrapped up their cross country careers, clocking in for the last time at 24:56.1 and 25:23.6, respectively.

Senior Erin Herrmann from Hope College came away with the individual title this year in a time of 21:10.9.   

Calvin College (90) was the regional championship`s first-place team this year, taking four of the top 20 spots. Taking second place this year was Allegheny University (120), and the third place went to host Hope College (128).
