Women`s Cross Country Wraps Up Season at Regionals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – Saturday morning, the Capital Women's Cross Country set off to race at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Lavern Gibson Championship Course. There, they placed 26th at the 2015 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Women's Cross Country Regional Championship.

Capital finished ahead of seven other teams including Muskingum University, Wittenberg University and Marietta College at the Great Lakes Regional 6k race.

Leading the team for the first time this season was junior Alexandra Corrigan (Burton, Ohio) with a time of 24:50 earning her a 124th place finish out of 243 runners.

Coming in one second after Corrigan was sophomore Hannah Westhoven (Napolean, Ohio). She has been a consistent runner for the Crusaders this season and crossed the line at 24:51, a time good enough for a 127th place finish.

Junior Gretchen Sauder (Mansfield, Ohio) served as the next Capital harrier to complete the course, clocked in at 25:02.

With a time of 26:02, junior Sarah Rini (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) shaved close to a minute off of her 6k personal record from last year.

Junior Caitlyn Tulloss (Utica, Ohio), a seasoned and consistent runner for the Crusaders, crossed the line next at 26:38.

The final two Crusaders to finish the race were freshman pair Katherine Irvine (Cincinnati, Ohio) at 26:43 and Aislynn Brant (Union, Ohio) at 27:33.  Both made their first regional appearances.

Junior Lauren Strohbehn from Calvin University won the individual title this year with a time of 21:46.

The regional championship`s first-place team finisher this year was Hope College (112), who managed to clutch five of the top 36 spots helping them advance to Nationals Taking second place was Calvin College (124) who will also be moving onto Nationals. Allegheny University (129) rounded out the top three team finishers.
