WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Capital University sophomore Hannah Westhoven lead the Women`s Cross Country pack in Saturday's Otterbein Invitational. The Crusaders finished well ahead of eight other teams that included Marietta College, Baldwin Wallace University, and Ohio Northern University.
Westhoven (Napolean, Ohio) set the tone for the Crusaders and established a new lifetime personal record with her performance. She crossed the line at 24:03.3 good for a 22nd-place finish out of 208 athletes.
Junior Gretchen Sauder (Mansfield, Ohio) also finished in the top half of her competitors with a time of 24:23.7. Finishing just 20 seconds behind Westhoven, Sauder placed 33rd overall.
Sophomore Carrie Kuder (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Davidson) fought to the finish line and clocked in at 25:09.4, good for 51st place.
Junior Alexandria Corrigan (Burton, Ohio) shaving off two minutes from last year's time, crossed the line at 25:35.4. Her classmate Sarah Rini (Pickerington, Ohio / Pickerington North) finished on her six, with a time of 25:36.5.
Host Otterbein (43) took first place; Findlay University (48) took second, and finishing off the top three teams was Ohio Wesleyan University (72). Capital (223) placed seventh ahead of three other OAC schools and finished second of five that participated.
The next time the Crusaders can be seen in action will be at the All-Ohio Championship hosted by Cedarville University (Cedarville, Ohio).
