WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Capital University women's cross country team prepped for the 2015 campaign by taking part in the Otterbein Early Bird Open. The meet turned into a dual meet between Otterbein University and Capital, to which both Cardinal squads outscored the Crusaders.
Otterbein split into two squads and took the top 12 spots between the two teams. Their red squad placed first with 18 points, followed by its white team with 39. Capital posted 81, and was led by junior Gretchen Sauder (Mansfield, Ohio) with a time of 21:23. Classmate Allison Corrigan (Burton, Ohio) finished mere seconds behind her (21:26) to place 13th and 14th, respectively.
Katherine Irvine (Cincinnati, Ohio) was the top freshman runner to place for Capital, completing the 5,000-meter course in 23:31.
Capital will be back in action this Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitation in Delaware, Ohio.
