Women’s Cross Country Finishes Eighth at OAC Championships

GATES MILLS, Ohio – On the morning of Saturday, Nov. 1, the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championship was held at Gilmour Academy High School. Of the 10 teams competing, Capital University finished eighth and was led by sophomore Carrie Kuder.

Kuder, a native of Hilliard, Ohio, finished 40th overall to pace the Crusaders. She finished the 6,000-meter course in 26:27.72, serving as the first Capital harrier to cross the finish line.

Freshman Hannah Westhoven (Napolean, Ohio) was not too far behind, coming in 49th place with a time of 26:40.89.

Alexander Corrigan (27:13.99), Gretchen Sauder (27:45.52) and Sarah Rini (27:48:47) rounded out the lineup for Capital.

Combined, the Crusaders compiled 223 team points to place them eighth out of 10 teams.

The University of Mount Union took three of the top five positions to claim the team crown behind 29 points. Catie Campbell of Mount Union won the individual title and broke the 24-minute barrier with a time of 23:59.99.
