ADA, Ohio – Capital University Volleyball was taken down in three sets by Ohio Northern University at the ONU Sports Center, Friday night. The Polar Bears bested the Purple and White by scores of 25-15, 25-5, and 25-16.
Capital now has a 5-16 overall record and falls to 1-2 in OAC play. Ohio Northern, who received votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, improves to 18-3 overall and 3-0 against OAC competition.
Senior Courtney McCracken (Newark, Ohio/Newark Catholic) and Kirsten Nickles (Loudonville, Ohio) shared the team lead in kills (4) on a day the offense struggled. Capital's best team single set hit percentage came in the third when they tallied a .062 success rate.
On the flip side, ONU hit .250 or better in two of three sets, including the second where they ran away behind a .471 kill percentage. The Polar Bears also held the advantage on the block, 6-4. Capital's 10 service errors hindered their success, while ONU had none.
Capital brings their play back home for a match against Muskingum University (13-7, 1-1) on Tuesday, Oct. 11. First service will be held at 7 p.m. from The Capital Center Performance Arena.
