Volleyball Falls in Three to John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Capital University Volleyball team fell short today while visiting John Carroll University at the DeCarlo Center. Capital was swept in straight sets by scores of 30-28, 25-18, 25-21.

Junior Kirsten Nickles (Loudonville, Ohio) led today's effort with an all-around performance that included a team-high nine digs as well as eight kills. Alongside of her leading the attack for the Crusaders, junior Kristin Bender (Fremont, Ohio) finished with 10 kills.

The Blue Streaks' (record) leading attackers were Sarah Orlandi and Leah Switalski with 15 and 12 kills, respectively. Dig leaders for John Carroll were Kit O'Shaughnessy with a game-high (17) and Sara Kaminski (14).

Capital's front line kept them in the contest, totaling 11 blocks, seven of those solo, compared to JCU's seven.  Graysan Braun (Springfield, Ohio) had two solo blocks while teammates Becca Kapavik (Johnstown, Ohio), and Bender each finished with one solo block and two block assists.

The Crusaders will see their next action at the Capital Center Tuesday, Oct. 27 against Heidelberg University at 7:00 p.m.
