Volleyball Falls Twice at HCAC/OAC Crossover

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Capital University volleyball team suffered a pair of defeats on the final day of the HCAC/OAC Crossover tournament, hosted by Muskingum University. Capital is now 4-15 overall on the season.

Capital fell to Hanover College (Ind.) in four sets by scores of 25-20, 25-27, 25-17, and 25-18. Three difference Crusaders finished with 10 or more kills including Becca Kapavick (10), Kirsten Bender (11) and Kasey Parkhurst (12). Capital hit .198 as a team. Katie Weilbacher finished with 36 assists.

The Crusaders fared equally in their second match, dropping a 3-1 (25-10, 17-25, 25-13, 25-21) contest to Transylvania University. Weilbacher again did well with 27 assists and two service aces but the Crusaders hit under .100 as its offensive struggles continued.

Caitlin McDivitt was named Capital's representative on the all-tournament team.

The weekend tournament concludes the Crusaders' nonconference schedule. They will open their OAC slate against rival Otterbein University on Wednesday, Sept. 30 in Westerville, Ohio. First service is set for 7 p.m.
