CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Capital University Volleyball earned its third consecutive win over the Trailblazers of Ohio Christian University, Wednesday night. The Crusaders took care of business in four sets with a 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17 collection of wins.
Capital nearly completed the straight-set sweep, but was edged out in the third set by a narrow 25-23 margin.
Sophomore Becca Kapavik (Johnstown, Ohio) led the Crusaders with 10 kills and just two errors to pace the offense. She added six digs and three solo blocks to her line.
Senior Katie Weilbacher (Grove City, Ohio) returned to the lineup and split setting duties with sophomore Caitlin McDivitt (Cortland, Ohio). McDivitt earned the start and led the Crusaders with 12 assists while Weilbacher was close behind with 11.
Sophomore Jessica Winstel (Milford, Ohio) led the Crusaders, defensively, with 38 digs.
Four different Capital players are on record with 10 or more digs in the match.
The Crusaders (4-6) have now won three straight matches heading into the Wooster Invitational, hosted by The College of Wooster this weekend. Capital will begin their tournament stay with the Fighting Scots on Friday at 3:30 p.m. followed by a match with conference foe Muskingum University. They will resume play on Saturday versus Albion College and Bluffton College beginning at 10 a.m.
