AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference unveiled its athlete of the week honorees for the week of January 6 on Monday afternoon. Following her first action of the year, Capital senior Emily Hilt was named OAC Female Track Athlete of the Week.

Hilt and a small batch of Crusaders competed at the Ashland Open on Saturday, January 11. There, the Delaware, Ohio (Buckeye Valley) native set a new personal record in the 60-meter hurdles to begin the 2020 season, strongly.

For the first time in her career, Hilt recorded a sub-10.00 in the 60-meter hurdles and did so among a field of Division I, II and III athletes. Hilt stopped the clock at 9.94 seconds to set a new PR and finish 16th out of 22 runners.

This marks Hilt's second OAC weekly honor after being named OAC Female Field Athlete of the Week on April 8, 2019, following her performance at the All-Ohio Multis at Muskingum University.
