ADA, Ohio – Qualifiers for the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships flocked to Ohio Northern University on Friday to begin their weekends with dreams of conference glory. Capital University Women's Track & Field was no exception and the Crusaders started their weekends with some positive results.
In the completed field events, Capital earned seven total points. In the long jump, junior Emily Hilt's second attempt of 5.26 meters earned her fifth. Senior Kassie Lee placed sixth in the weight throw after her sixth and final attempt traveled 14.26 meters. Junior Taylor Manivanh's leap of 4.97 meters in the long jump placed her 11th.
On the track, Capital earned two points from its 4,000-meter distance medley relay team which placed seventh with a time of 13:54.89.
The rest of the events Capital competed in were preliminary races with finals on Saturday. Hilt just missed out on qualifying for the 60-meter hurdles final with a ninth-placed time of 9.66 seconds. Kaylee Prall placed 18th in the event. Manivanh also missed out on a final by placing 16th in the 60-meter dash.
After the first day, Capital sits in 6th overall with nine points. The headliner for the Crusaders on Saturday will likely be Manivanh in the triple jump. Field events will continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday and running events will resume at 2 p.m.
