ADA, Ohio – Capital University Women's Track & Field was back in action on Saturday at the annual Joe Banks Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University and placed sixth with 35 points.
In the field events, junior Kassie Lee earned two top-five finishes by claiming fourth in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw. In the shot, Lee's best throw of 10.94 meters beat out the fifth-place finisher by 0.01 meters. Lee then managed a personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 13.88 meters, beating her previous mark by 0.13 meters.
On the track, four Crusaders ran in the 500-meter race, paced by Larkin Joseph in fifth with a time of 1:30.29. Olivia Maxwell, Kaylee Prall and Meghan Leeth followed Joseph in seventh, eighth and ninth, respectively.
In her first meet of the season, freshman Julia Dziewisz completed the 800-meter race in 2:34.79, good enough for eighth-place. Joseph, Dziewisz and Maxwell joined Sarah Tilton on the 4x400-meter relay team that placed sixth with a mark of 4:35.17.
Senior distance runner Mackenzie Meyers continued her strong indoor season with another top-10 finish in the 3,000-meter run. Her performance of 11:24.31 earned her eighth.
The Crusaders will compete in the All-Ohio Indoor Championships next weekend on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Otterbein University.
