Capital Women Place 10th in First Home Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University Women's Track & Field hosted the annual Jessica Starks open in The Capital Center Fieldhouse on Saturday and placed 10th out of 17 teams with 22.5 points.

Senior distance runner Mackenzie Meyers picked up an event win last week and followed that with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000 meter run. Meyers crossed the finish line in 11:26.79 to earn four points.

After placing fourth in the 60-meter hurdle prelims, Emily Hilt finished fourth in the finals with a run of 9.46 seconds. Hilt also finished third in the high jump after clearing 1.60 meters on her third and final try at that height.

Kayla Sahli placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 9.38 meters and Kassie Lee also achieved fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.68 meters. Lee also finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 10.73 meters.

The Crusaders will be back in action next weekend at Ohio Northern University to compete in the Joe Banks Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 2.
