USTFCCCA Tags Trio of Crusaders with All-Region Laurels

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Three members of the Capital University men's and women's track & field programs were named USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region for their top performances over the course of the outdoor season. The announcement was made by the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday, May 21, 2018.

Recent graduate Logan Allison (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy) earned his fourth and fifth career outdoor track & field all-region honors, doing so once again in the triple and long jumps. Allison topped out with a mark of 7.17 meters, a new personal record, in the long jump and 14.41 meters in the triple jump during the 2018 season.

Allison now has 13 all-region awards between his indoor and outdoor career.

Jason Coon (Bernville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) served as Capital's second male all-region selection, doing his work in the shot put. The recent graduate finished 13th in the country with a season-best toss of 16.43 meters (53-11.00) which was accomplished in his most recent action at the Great Lakes NCAA Final Qualifying Meet at Ohio Wesleyan University. Coon is now a two-time outdoor and five-time overall all-region pick.

Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) earned her first Great Lakes All-Region honor after finishing in the top-5 in the women's 800-meter run. The junior turned in her best time at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet at Baldwin Wallace University on May 11, 2018 when she stopped the clock at 2:15.13.

On the men's side, a total of 743 athletes from 192 programs earned 948 all-region honors. On the women's side, a total of 667 athletes from 184 programs earned 940 all-region honors. The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, West – match those used during the cross country and indoor track & field season.
