Mouser Picks up a Win to Lead Capital Women’s Track & Field on Friday

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Following a one-week hiatus, Capital University Women's Track & Field took to the track at the Otterbein April Fool's Invitational hosted by Otterbein University and in addition to several top-five performances, the Crusaders are bringing home an event win.

Capital's top finisher on the day was senior sprinter Hunter Mouser, who won the 200-meter dash with a 26.09-second performance that beat the second-place finisher by half of a second. Mouser also placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.09.

Three Crusaders ran in the 400-meter hurdles with Niamani Mayes leading the way with a fourth-place finish. Mayes, Olivia Quinter and Abbey Bodeker all finished with marks of 1:09.88, 1:11.74 and 1:17.99, respectively. Quinter also placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.31 seconds.

A trio of Capital throwers also took place in the shot put with Kassie Lee leading the group with her launch of 9.65 meters. Ally Cumming finished just behind Lee with a throw of 9.61 meters and Molly Piard recorded a top throw of 6.98 meters.

In the relays, Capital's team of Mouser, Mayes, Manivanh and Quinter placed second in the 4 x 100-meter event with a combined time of 50.80 seconds.

Capital's lone distance runner was senior Hannah Westhoven who recorded a personal-best time of 18:27.36, a mark that beat her previous best by almost 30 seconds.

In the long jump, sophomore Taylor Manivanh secured a third-place finish with her third jump of the event, a leap of 5.15 meters.

Capital will return to the course next weekend, April 7-8, to participate in the Muskingum Invitational and All-Ohio Multi Championships hosted by Muskingum University.
