Capital and Heidelberg University each earned 37 points in this year's poll, placing them in a deadlock for sixth place. They trail Baldwin Wallace University (47) for fifth. The University of Mount Union serves as the preseason favorite behind eight first-place votes and total of 80 points. Ohio Northern University trails by just seven points and earned the remaining two first-place votes. Otterbein University (66) and John Carroll (56) take the third and fourth spots, respectively.

All 10 OAC teams will meet in New Concord, Ohio on April 28-29 for this year's OAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Muskingum University. Mount Union is the host for this year's national meet.

Last year, Capital finished seventh out 10 teams at the OAC Outdoor Championships.

Just a week after making her debut at the indoor national meet, junior Hunter Mouser (London, Ohio/London) looks to get back on the track in the 200- and 400-meter dashes. Sophomore Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) looks to improve on her runner-up finish in the 800-meter dash after serving as the team's highest individual placer from last year's outdoor championship meet.

The Purple and White will look for new talent to fill some vacancies in the throws group, though senior Ashley Freshkorn (Columbus, Ohio/Hamilton Township) will lead the group after winning an OAC title at this year's indoor championship.

Capital's outdoor season begins on Friday, March 17 when the team heads south for the Emory Invitational at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. They will spend two days at the Woodruff P.E. Center for the meet.
