DELAWARE, Ohio – Opening Weekend for the 2017 track and field season began on Friday night when Capital University sent part of its squad to the Ron Althoff Classic, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
In a Cap-heavy field in the 400-meter dash, junior Caitlyn Tulloss (Utica, Ohio/Northridge) took top honors with a time of 1:03.83. Sophomore Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) finished just 0.25 seconds behind her teammate for second place.
Al Corrigan (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) led a field of seven Capital runners to compete in the one-mile run, placing sixth overall behind a time of 5:43.70.
In her first collegiate races, Danielle Deshuk (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) finished fourth in the 400 meters (1:07.99) and 12th in the one-mile (5:57.94).
Capital faced competitor from five schools at Ohio Wesleyan including Ohio Christian University, Muskingum University, and Mount Vernon Nazarene. Score was kept, though Capital's small squad size accumulated just 24 points to round out the five-team field.
Saturday, Jan. 14 both the men's and women' track and field team will be in full effect at the Otterbein Invitational inside The Rike Center (Westerville, Ohio). Live results will be available for the meet.
