Women's Track and Field Finished Seventh at the OAC Championship

WILMINGTON, Ohio– The Capital University women's track and field team finished up their last day at the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships at Williams Stadium, Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders finished in seventh place with 33 points and a spot ahead of their finish from previous years. Capital beat out Wilmington College (30), Muskingum University (12), and Marietta College (4).

The runners were a driving force this weekend for the Crusaders. Freshman Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio) fought her way through the rain in the 800m run and pulled out a second place time of 2:21.52.

The 4x400 team made another show stopping performance this week with a fifth place finish in 4:07.48. The team included: junior pair Shalynn Dornbush (Hopedale, Ohio) and Caitlyn Tulloss (Utica, Ohio), freshman Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio), and sophomore Hunter Mouser (London, Ohio).

Capital throwers locked down two spots in shot put finals. Sophomore Amber Thomas (Cleveland, Ohio) has been a consistent thrower for the Crusaders and made a fifth place appearance with a toss of 12.07 meters (39'6). Chelsea Carpenter (Cincinnati, Ohio) picked up an All-OAC honor the first day of Conference, but didn`t stop there. She also picked up points in the shot put with a sixth place throw of 11.80 meters (38'7).

Sophomore Hunter Mouser (London, Ohio) clocked in at 1:00.79 in the 400m Dash finals with an eighth place finish.

The University of Mount Union held onto their first place team finish, wrapping up day two with 178 points. In second place was Ohio Northern University, who moved up a place after day two with 176.5 points. Wrapping up the top three teams was Otterbein University with 122 points.
