FINDLAY, Ohio – The Capital University women's track and field had two tough days of competition this week as they faced athletes from all three NCAA divisions, over a two-day span at the Findlay Classic meet.
Freshman Larkin Joseph (New Philadelphia, Ohio) has been a strong runner and a consistent pacesetter in her first season with the Crusaders. Joseph picked up a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.84.
The women`s 4x400-meter relay made a great appearance this week capturing a finish in the top half of the competition. The relay team finished with a time of 4:23.01, and included freshman Larkin Joseph, sophomores Shalynn Dornbush (Hopedale, Ohio) and MacKenzie Ciganick (Bellaire, Mich.), and junior Caitlyn Tulloss (Utica, Ohio).
Junior Taylor Atkins (Bethel, Ohio) showed up in a big way placing sixth in the pentathlon's 800-meter run with a time of 2:44.94.
Freshman Elona Greenhoff (Eastlake, Ohio) with her first jump of the season captured sixth-place with a mark of 1.58m (5-02.25).
Junior Ashley Freshkorn (Columbus, Ohio / Hamilton Township) barely missed the finals with a toss of 11.79 meters (38-8 1/4), good enough for 11th in a field of 39 throwers.
The next time you can catch the Crusaders in action will be at the Joe Banks Invitational, hosted at the ONU Sports Center (Ada, Ohio) on Saturday, Feb. 6.
