ADA, Ohio – The Capital University women's track and field team competed in the Polar Bear Invitational, hosted by Ohio Northern University, on Saturday. Capital placed eighth out of 12 teams at the meet.
Sophomore Jordan Lyle (Sunbury, Ohio) once again led the Crusaders with a second-place performance in the pole vault, reaching 3.31 meters.
Senior Marissa Price (Tiffin, Ohio) took to the javelin toss and placed fourth overall, her best showing a throw of her career that measured 33.41 meters.
In the women's long jump, sophomore Taylor Atkins (Bethel, Ohio) placed eighth overall with a leap of 5.02 meters.
Furthering Capital's field successes, sophomore Ashley Freshkorn (Columbus, Ohio/Hamilton Township) placed sixth in the shot put, hitting 12.11 meters.
Sophomore Gretchen Sauder (Mansfield, Ohio) placed third in the 5,000-meter run, timing out at 20:55.50.
Capital will now gear up for the OAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Mount Union next Friday and Saturday (April 24-25). More details will be provided about the upcoming championships leading up to the weekend.
