WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Capital University's women's track and field team took 17th in Saturday's All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Otterbein University.
Ashley Freshkorn (Columbus, Ohio) continued her strong sophomore campaign in shot put and weight throw. Freshkorn recorded the highest finish for the Crusaders, coming in fourth in weight throw with a distance of 14.84 meters. The sophomore also placed eighth in shot put with a 12.20 meter mark. She scored six points, which was the most of any Crusader.
Jordan Lyle (Sunbury, Ohio) finished ninth in pole vault with a height of 3.06 meters.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Kasey Parkhurst (Astalla, Ohio), Rachel Rus (Highland, Ohio), Abbey Bodeker (Vermilion, Ohio), and Lyle highlighted the running events. The relay team placed 10th, clocking in at 1:51.51.
Mount Union won the meet with a score of 127.50. Ohio Wesleyan took second with 111, followed by Otterbein, which scored 79.
On Friday, the Crusaders also competed in the Ohio Wesleyan Open.
Shalynn Dornbush (Hopedale, Ohio) recorded a second place finish in the 400 meter dash, crossing the finish line at 1:06.80
Kirstyn Baker (Richmond Heights, Ohio) finished sixth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.99.
Freshman throwers Taylor Johnston (Corpus Christi, Texas) and Gracie Pesicka (Parma, Ohio) placed fifth and sixth, respectively. Johnston threw a distance of 9.72 meters while Pesicka threw 9.34 meters.
The Crusaders return to action when they host the Capital Classic/Rick Mendl Invite on Saturday, February 21.
