ADA, Ohio – The Capital University women's track and field competed in the Joe Banks Invitational held at the Ohio Northern University Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.
The day was highlighted by sophomore thrower Ashley Freshkorn (Columbus, Ohio). Freshkorn threw a career best 12.25 meters in the shot put even which was good enough for a second-place finish. She also placed third in the weight throw, throwing 13.98 meters. Sophomore Jordan Lyle (Sunbury, Ohio) finished in sixth place in the pole vault with 3.22 meters.
Kasey Parkhurst (Astalla, Ohio) turned in a pair of solid performances, including a sixth place finish and personal best 4.78 meters in the long jump. She also took eighth in the triple jump (9.90m).
Freshman thrower Amber Thomas (Cleveland, Ohio) placed seventh in shot put, setting a new personal best 10.85.
The top scorer for the Crusaders was Freshkorn, who reeled in 14 points.
Ohio Northern ran away with the meet with 155 points. Otterbein finished second with 139 and Cedarville placed third with 120. Capital took home eighth place after scoring 27.50 points.
The Crusaders will compete in the All-Ohio meet at the Rike Center in Westerville, Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 14.
